Astrophotography Trip to Alpha Scorpii and the capture of NGC 4565: The Needle Galaxy

Invited to Alpha Scorpii by Jason, I came with two rigs, my trusty Losmandy G-11 and my RC 6 and my EQ6r pro with my AstroTech 80EDT, along with a good appetite and enjoying some great company. Both cameras captured some good data, and the first one out of the gate was NGC 4565 the Needle Galaxy taken with my RC6.

A number of Arizona and California astrophotographers gathered together at AZ4Runner’s dark site named Alpha Scorpii in Dateland, AZ for a night of burgers, hotdogs, great discussions around equipment and targets, and of course, some great astrophotography! Alpha Scorpii Palooza 2023 participants
